Diabetic Foot Care Department :

JADC has founded the specialty of diabetic foot care for the first time in Sudan. Its aim is not only to treat already established wounds, but further providing the best foot care and prevention of diabetic foot ulcer development. In addition, this department works at raising the patients’ and public awareness using different methods.

As the first of its kind in the country, this departments receives diabetic patients referred from the departments of surgery and internal medicine. The main services provided by the department include:

1. A.Doppler ultrasound assessment and Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) measurement.
2. B.Screening for peripheral neuropathy.
3. C.Evaluation for possible foot deformities and anatomical abnormalities.
4. D.Assessment and management of fissures, nail problems, and fungal infections.
5. E.Patient and relatives health education.
6. F. Foot wear selection in cooperation with the medical foot wear section.

The department has registered 5965 patients receiving regular services with a daily 15-20 new patients.
